![]() The kumquat is a delicious winter treat native to China and is a symbol of prosperity. This citrus fruit is quite unique as it is common to eat the entire fruit, skin and all! The skin will give you a sweet sensation while the inside boasts a slight burst of sour, the opposite of most citrus, so watch out! This compact fruit is not only the cutest little orange baby around, it's also packed with nutrients. The peel is rich in many anti-oxidants, fiber, and essential oils. In fact, 100 grams of Kumquats provide 17% of the daily recommended value of fiber. These little orange poppers provide a healthy dose of Vitamin A and Vitamin E, which provide key anti-oxidants to keep free radicals at bay. And, as you may have guessed, kumquats offer a powerful punch of vitamin C, offering 73% of the daily recommended value of Vitamin C. Take that you ridiculous gripping cold! Oh, and let's not forget the Vitamin B complex effect, such as thiamin, niacin, folates and pantothenic acids. These vitamins play a key role in metabolizing carbohydrates, proteins and fats. When choosing the perfect fruit to devour, you will want to look for kumquats that are bright orange in color without any greenish tint. They should be plump and free of skin blemishes.
