![]() Experiencing physical pain and/or injuries can be a tough space to settle into. We often are not aware of the parts of our body until they begin to ache. These body parts are expressing their voice, asking for nurturance and attention. When you feel this pain, try not to shy away from it. Bring a gentle awareness to this aching space. Accept it's presence, knowing it is speaking to you with purpose. Allow yourself to sit with this pain and let emotions and feelings arise without judgment. You may ask it to leave you, knowing it will on it's own time. The asking is important, however you must be able to sit with the time it takes to release on it's own. Asking for the pain release without expectations is key. Just like the breath comes and goes, so does pain. It's important to remember, this too shall pass! The painful moments we experience now will leave us eventually. Placing awareness, compassion, and nurturance towards these moments will allow for the release of pain to happen in a more gentle way. Just like we hope to hold onto moments of happiness, it's in the letting go where we can feel truly free. Letting go of your grip to control pain, pleasure and happiness will allow for a more gentle experience as you learn that each moment is a temporary one. A moment we can only capture with true presence. Each moment is a new experience, one that will arise perfectly just as it is meant to, without expectation, without lasting, without holding. Simply breathe it in and let it go with ease. This will allow for a more gentle and accepting flow of moments whether it holds pain, pleasure or anything in between. ~ Liz Myers, MA Rooted Living Wellness Coach.
